Building an inground swimming pool is a major investment that requires careful planning. At Granite Pools, we know this can feel overwhelming, so we’re here to make the process smooth and stress-free. This guide will walk you through every step of building an inground pool with us.
Step 1 - Free Pool Consultation and Design Process
Before we can start building your dream pool, we’ll kick things off with a free consultation and design session. At Granite Pools, we’ll meet with you to talk about your ideas, vision, and everything you’re looking for in a pool. We’ll also take a close look at the space where you want to build, discussing any potential challenges or limitations along the way.
From there, our experienced designers will create custom swimming pool design plans tailored to your needs and preferences.
Step 2 - Site prep and layout
Once your swimming pool plans are finalized and approved, it’s time to prep the site for the construction of the pool. This includes any needed leveling, debris and tree removal plus handling any fence issues.
Step 3 - Excavation
Next comes excavation—digging out the area for your pool using heavy machinery. This step is critical as it sets the stage for the entire pool structure.
Once the hole is ready, we’ll start constructing the walls and floor of your pool with top-quality materials.
Step 4 - Steel, Electrical and Plumbing
With the structure in place, we’ll add steel reinforcements for extra strength and stability. During this stage, we’ll also install the plumbing for filtration systems and water features, as well as the electrical wiring for lights, pumps, and any other equipment your pool might need.
Step 5 - Gunite
Now it’s time to build the pool shell using gunite (or shotcrete)—a mix of cement, sand, and water. Our skilled technicians spray this mixture onto the walls and floor with high-pressure hoses, then hand-trowel it for a smooth finish. Once it sets, your concrete pool starts really taking shape!
Step 6 - Decking and Tile
After the gunite cures, we move on to the pool deck and tile work. Your deck can be crafted from materials like concrete, pavers, or natural stone. We also offer a variety of pool tile options to enhance the look and functionality of your pool.
Step 7 - SWIMMING Pool Finish

Step 8 - Pool Equipment
With the construction complete, we’ll install all the essential equipment like pumps, filters, heaters, and any other accessories you’ve chosen. We also offer ongoing maintenance services to keep your pool running perfectly.
Step 9 - Landscaping
To complete the look, we’ll handle the landscaping around your pool. Whether it’s plants, trees, or other design elements, we’ll create a stunning outdoor space that complements your new pool.
Step 10 - Cleanup and Final Inspection
Once everything is done, we’ll clean up the entire area to leave your property spotless. Then, we’ll perform a final inspection to ensure everything meets our high standards before handing over your brand-new inground pool.
Step 11 - Startup and Pool School
Before you dive in, we’ll balance your pool’s water chemistry and make sure it’s safe for swimming.
